- In our ongoing effort to educate students about the effects of drug
and alcohol use we are pleased to welcome a new program called Project
SUCCESS (Schools Using Coordinated Community Efforts to Strengthen
Students). This program is funded by a grant from the Santa Cruz County
Office of Education. The goals of the program are to prevent and reduce
alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and to improve school performance.
To accomplish these goals, students will have the opportunity to participate
in classroom discussions, small groups and individual meetings. Services
are designed to educate students about substance use, refusal skills
and how to identify the social and situational pressures involved in
substance use. Parent meetings and workshops will also be available
to assist you in prevention efforts.

- Update
from Cougar Club. Parents can use their phone number at Safeway and still earn contributions
towards eScrip if their phone number and
Safeway Club Card have been linked. You can check if you are earning
contributions by checking your Safeway receipt. It should say "Your
qualifying purchases have been accumulated towards eScrip". If
your receipt does not say this after using your phone number then you
can either (1) Call Safeway Customer Service at 877-723-3929 (877-SAFEWAY)
and ask them to link your Safeway Club Card number to phone number.
or (2) Obtain a new Safeway Club Card that you scan at the register.
You can contact the escrip coordinator at slvscrip@comcast.net or 831.335.2970
to obtain a new card and register it in escrip to support SLV HS.
